Chapter 1 Hello World!

As she strutts through the office, clad in black skinnies and a gold lurex top, we raise our heads over our monitors to glance. Our 10am interview has arrived, not to early and not too late, pretty punctual actually, as it should be. She carries an oversized orange birken over her shoulders, which seems large enough to house her requirements for the day – a matching agenda, a pen, the indispensable iPhone, lipstick, keys, a magazine picked up along the way, and a multitude of other non necessities left there from previous outings. She sits at the edge of her chair, playing with her phone and promptly responds to her name being called by the loud voiced receptionist. ‘Timsy’, room 2 please’. She strutts right through.

Timsy is the avatar of the modern woman. She is an eclectic blend of personalities, a swarm of hormones, a contradiction of emotions, a societal mix, influencial and influenced all at once by the triggers and demands of todays crazy world. She’s Maltese, she’s also foreign in many ways, both through blood ties as well as mentalities, she’s a survivor, and a driver of her own dreams and ambitions. She’s a worrier, a practical implementer, a creative force of energy, which is often misunderstood. She is the epitome of todays generation of multi-tasking women, a juggler between parenthood and her hopes and dreams for a better richer life.

Today her mind is focused as she enters the interviewing room that may just about give her the life balance she craves and the financial support she desperately needs to get through the next six months. This is Malta’s official temping agency, and this is Timsy, the virtual personality that captures the true sentiments of todays modern woman.
