Well, what can I say …… that was one hell of a ride! 2020 and all its twists and turns! Turns consisting off acrylic nails hanging on for dear life, roots so outgrown Jack had his very beanstalks, 9 year old daughter becoming a feral cookie monster, my new relationship with the food delivery service ….

I’m sure all parents can relate 100%, that it was one huge learning curve, not only was I juggling my own job working remotely. Oh and by the way, who didn’t think it would be a breeze? I had envisioned getting up slowly, pouring a coffee, putting on the laptop, staying in my PJ’s working at my own pace, when in fact only one of those happened, the staying in PJ’s part! it was akin to being pulled in so many different directions you didn’t know what was up or down!

So, to sum up from where we left off, I was already working for a client in a super position as a temp through tempsinmalta, the girls were fab, reassuring me that even though we were in the midst of pandemic then a lock down that all was fine with my assignment, the client as with so many adapted quickly, and staff were put on remote working. The plus coming out of lockdown and online schooling is now I have a wider skill set (firmly tongue in cheek haha), this includes, although, it’s more ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ type of skill set. I can now proudly add to my CV, ‘IT technician’, ‘supplier of snacks to online pupil’, ‘relinquisher’ of snacks on behalf of online pupil’, ‘Teaching assistant’, ‘Zoom expert’ (not an expert at all but an expert of angling the screen to avoid the other zoomees seeing PJ bottoms and bowl of snacks in both online pupil and mummy’s lap’. So not all bad …..

I returned to the office later that year to my temp assignment, initially strange being back but loved the office environment again and being back with the team.

I recalled during that time a conversation I first had with the ladies at tempsinmalta the very first time I registered with them, they said temp work isn’t just a super way to expand on skill sets and expand industry working knowledge but what really resonated with me is the traditional ‘9-5’ office environment isn’t the only way to work, as long as we work smartly it really doesn’t matter how it’s ‘divvied up’ – I think we can all agree that flexible working is the way forward and not just for parents or even just because of a pandemic.

Fast forward to today, I’m now in another temp assignment as I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity as it’s in an industry I really wish to continue in, enjoying it immensely!

Christmas is just around the corner, so I best get my tail into gear and get my Christmas shopping done … tata for now all x
